How do we improve the safety in kitchen and bathroom, the two most dangerous places at home? Let’s read our design ideas now!


Kitchen

  Floor                        
  • No threshold, no stumble.
  • Spacious entrance for easy access.
  • Dry floor to prevent slipping.
 
  Stove    
  • Waist height ideal for safe and easy cooking.
  • Store less, keep more space for dishes and food to prevent their falling.
 
  Cabinets    
  • Moderate height for easy retrieval.
  • Organize the items inside regularly. 
 
  Knives    
  • A fixed spot for properly storage.
 
  Dishes    
  • No storage at a high spot to prevent standing on your tiptoe.
 
  Cookers    
  • Use an induction cooker to prevent fire.
  • Use an alarm clock to remind you turn off the cooker.
 
  LPG cylinders    
  • Store them away from fire.
 
  Wires and electrical sockets    
  • Set enough sockets for electrical appliances to avoid overloading a single socket and short circuit.
  • Organize wires properly.
 
  Illumination    
  • Enough lighting for cooking purposes.
 

 

Bathroom

 

  Door                    
  • No threshold for wheelchair accessibility.
  • Use bathroom door that allows opening from the outside for rescues.
 
  Floor    
  • Use non-slip tiles or pad to prevent slipping.
 
  Illumination    
  • dd a nightlight.
 
  Handrail    
  • Add handrails near the toilet shower and sink.
 
  An emergency alarm    
  • Install an emergency alarm in the bathroom. You can call for help in case of accidents.
 
  Shower    
  • Shower is safer than a bathtub safety because you do not need to climb.
  • Moderate height with a shower board. 
 
  Sink    
  • Moderate height.
  • Enough space under the sink for wheelchair accessibility.
  • No excessive storage under the sink to prevent tripping.
 
  Cabinets    
  • Keep storage in cabinets to keep the space clean and tidy.
  • No storage near the entrance or on the floor to prevent tripping.
  • No storage above the head of the bed to prevent their falling.
 
  Cleaning supplies    
  • Moderate height for their storage to prevent back and waist sprain from overstretching.
