How do we improve the safety in the living room and bedroom, the two most relaxing places at home? Let’s read our design ideas now!
 

 

   Living Room

  Floor                       
  •   No threshold, no stumble.
  •   Flat floor to avoid tripping.
  •   Have non-slip shoes.
 
  Doors    
  • No multiple locks and latches, Easy entering of rescuers in case of accident.
  •  High and low door viewers for elders of different heights.
 
  Windows    
  •  Window grilles to enhance safety.
 
  Illumination    
  • Sufficient light.
  • Lighting switches at convenient, moderate heights to prevent standing on your tiptoe.
 
  Air-conditioning    
  • Remote control for air-conditioners to avoid falls from standing on a chair for the switch.
 
  Visitors intercom and
emergency alarm
   
  • Use an intercom with hands-free function and an emergency button.
  • Devices at moderate heights.
 
  Wires and sockets    
  • Sockets at moderate heights.
  • No multiple appliances at a single socket to prevent short circuit and fire.
  • Organize the wires.
 
  Chairs    
  • Chairs at moderate heights.
  • Backrest and armrest to facilitate sitting and leverage.
 
  Storage    
  • Storage Store neatly, clear up regularly to avoid falls of accumulated objects or tripping.
 
  Drugs    
  • Put drugs in a partitioned pill box; do not store it at a high place.
 

 

 Bedroom

 

  Doors                    
  • No threshold, no stumble.
 
  Windows    
  •  Window grilles to enhance safety.
 
  Beds    
  •  Beds at moderate heights for easy access.
 
  Illumination    
  • Add a bedside nightlight.
  • Add a bedside lighting switch for getting up in the dark.
 
  Emergency alarm    
  • Add a bedside emergency alarm for quick call for help.
  • Wear remote control of the emergency alarm while sleeping.
 
  Wires    
  • Organize the wires and do not put them on the floor to prevent tripping.
 
  Chairs    
  •  Place an armchair on the bedside for leverage.
 
  Storage    
  • Leave enough space to get on and out of bed.
  • No pilling up behind doors.
  • No storage above the head of the bed to prevent their falling.
  • No storage of towels or mats under the bed to prevent tripping.
  • No high storage of clothes to prevent falling. Or use a hanging rod to help.
